3 essential questions on personal branding

think-differentPersonal Branding is not at all a clear topic and there are no fixed rules. Precisely for this reason we put ourselves in the shoes of those who would like to “stay on track” but who do not know much about it and do not know where to start. Today we want to focus on three key questions about personal branding that can help you clarify your ideas on the subject. If you answer these questions, you are already in a good place to begin to act so get to work and build yourself! 😉

  1. What makes me great?

Brands are built around superlatives. For example, Volvo builds safer cars, Apple is synonymous with innovative, Paris is the most romantic city in the world, Amazon has the most reliable e-commerce and offers the best customer service, and so on.

And you, what you can do better than anyone else? What is your “superpower”? To understand this, think about what is innate in you: What are you naturally good at? What do people usually ask you for help with? Sometimes we are so good at doing something and we do not realize how important it is for others around us. So think carefully and take note!

  1. What makes me unique?

If there is nothing unique in your strengths, you’re like many others. You have to know what sets you apart from the myriad of competitors who do what you do, what you can reveal in others. It could be your point of view or your experience in a niche area, or a feature of your personality. Or it could refer to how you do things, your own unique way of producing results. If what you do and how you do it are no different from everyone else who has the same work title or area of study, you have very little influence on others. Think about why someone should choose you over others who have your same capabilities, and make that a feature that makes you unique!

  1. What makes me irresistible?

To answer this question, you first need to find out who needs you. Who can benefit from your services? In short, to speak in marketing jargon, you need to identify your target and understand the needs, habits, language, preferences, tastes and values of the people who need you.

Personal branding does not mean being famous. It means being selectively famous. This means that you will be known only to those people who need to know how to reach you and may need you. Trying to be seen by everyone or to please everyone is not profitable. Remember that personal branding requires care and attention and should be aimed exclusively to your target audience.

Once you have clarified your target audience, ask yourself: “Why should they choose me? Why should they become ambassadors of my brand? What would make them choose me over other competitors, appreciate me and promote me to others?”

Look at your answers, remember what makes you great, unique and compelling, always think of your strengths and what makes you necessary to your target audience. Think of the problems you can solve for your target audience and be focused on creating an interdependent relationship with your audience.
